Mission

 

Dedicated to helping people grow individually and in community with others by providing educational experiences that foster an understanding and appreciation of the natural world and that emphasize the power of focus, collective effort.

Focus Populations

 

All ages. Using their 400 acre campus and the woods and water of Maine.

Types of Programs Offered

 

"All of our programs are intensive, challenging, and joyful. They explore the interrelationships that exist between people and their world."

- Maine Coast Semester: a course for 11th graders which allows them to engage in interdisciplinary learning while based in a small community at the Chewonki Foundation. Core Curriculum include: Natural Science - the Natural History of the Maine Coast, English -Literature and the Land and elective courses with topics such as: Environmental Issues, Art and the Natural World, American History, Mathematics, French/Spanish.

- Summer camp programs

- Wilderness Courses

- The Center for Environmental Education : Staff development workshops for teachers

- The Pathways Program: Educator modules in environmental education

- Wild Gulf Journal: Educational resources for the Gulf of Maine watershed.
