Mission

 

North Cascades Institute is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to increasing awareness and stewardship of Pacific Northwest environments. They provide field-based environmental education programs about the natural history and culture of local landscapes. More than 50,000 children and adults have participated in field seminars, youth and school programs, intern and volunteer training and workshops for teachers and educators.

Our mission is to conserve and restore Northwest environments by building an ecologically literate and engaged public. Our programs emphasize hands-on discovery and stewardship of the North Cascades, encompassing eleven million acres in one of the wildest, most biologically diverse landscapes in North America. Focus Populations

 

Youth and educators. Also Masters Degree students

Types of Programs Offered

 

· Master of Education degree in Natural Science/Science Education and receive a Certificate in Instruction and Administration of Environmental Education Programs in conjunction with Western Washington University.

- School Programs: Mountain School and the Skagit Watershed Education Project. Working with youth from the area in residential environmental experiential learning programs.

- Professional Development Programs for educators
