- 30 Day Summer Programs: Australia, Baja Mexico, Costa Rica, British Columbia, The Turks & Caicos Islands and Kenya SFS offers summer courses at each of the six locations. Summer programs provide students with an exciting opportunity to explore new ecosystems, view incredible sights, and meet people from different cultures. In addition, students have the opportunity to make a real difference, as they conduct hands-on work addressing environmental problems.Summer courses are intense 30-days experiences, comprised of lectures, field exercises, research, and expeditions. Programs are offered for college credit and are academic in nature, but are derived from real environmental issues facing real communities. Classrooms include coral reefs, rainforests, and African savannas; our topics range from sea turtle conservation to rainforest restoration. Students move well beyond the textbook, and learn from first hand exposure to environmental issues. - Full 14 week Semester Courses: same locations The program begins with an introductory module orienting you to the site and the local environmental issues. An average of three to four weeks is allotted to each case study. Several days at the end of these periods are set aside for synthesis and evaluation. The program ends with a `Re-Entry' Module offering an opportunity to reflect on the experiences of the semester, clarify values and consider career possibilities.
